This drop-in archiving workshop centres on giving participants the opportunity to digitise their own photographs - including negatives, slides and printed photographs.
Attendees will learn how to handle, clean, and scan photographic materials with care, transforming fragile film into accessible digital files. As photographs are digitised, hidden details and forgotten moments resurface, turning the process into both a technical exercise and an act of storytelling.
Participants will also get the opportunity to share their stories of Rochdale, with a focus on the College Bank buildings. Using audio and video equipment, work alongside Ellie to have these memories recorded.
There is opportunity for these materials to go into the 'College Bank' community archive and have your piece of Rochdale history preserved for future generations.
Note: Participants can bring a selection of photographic materials to be digitised, including 35mm negatives, medium and large format negatives. Photographic slides. Photographs (maximum size A4).
