JACK ARTS X Short Supply: Up Next

Short Supply and JACK ARTS are continuing their collaboration to create street-level display opportunities across the UK for emerging voices in the creative scene.

JACK ARTS are part of the BUILDHOLLYWOOD agency family, with a portfolio of largeformat posters, billboards and street takeovers across 13 UK cities. They champion creativity on the streets — making sure public space isn’t just for big brands, but for real culture, community and conversation. Based in the Northern Quarter, Manchester, the JACK ARTS team are deeply embedded in the local creative scene, working with grassroots venues, arts organisations and independent voices to keep the streets full of things worth looking at.

Together, they're inviting the next wave of artists to take up space and show the city what’s Up Next.

Artwork Brief

Up Next is looking for artists, designers, illustrators and image-makers of all kinds to submit work for a rolling series of public displays. This is your chance to see your work presented in 4-sheet format (that’s poster-sized goodness) as part of a rotating programme of visual art across the cities, sitting alongside JACK ARTS’ cultural noticeboards and creative campaigns.

Your work might launch a new site, appear unexpectedly across the UK, or sit alongside some of the most exciting grassroots creative work happening right now.

Where possible, selected artworks will be shown across confirmed billboard locations and professionally documented as part of the programme.

Please see attached guidelines for artwork submissions!

The Theme: Up Next

The brief had deliberately been kept open - Up Next is all about the future of creative culture.
What’s next for you?
What’s next for the North?
What’s next for the world?
Take this as an opportunity to share what you’re about, what you care about, what you’re making now. This is a spotlight moment; interpret the theme your way and use the city as your gallery.

Submission Timeline

Artwork submissions are accepted all year round.

This programme runs in quarterly cycles, meaning the artworks on display change every three months.

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis and grouped into the following windows.

When you submit affects when your work could appear:

  • Jan - Mar submissions → Billboard display Apr - Jun

  • Apr - Jun submissions → Billboard display Jul - Sep

  • Jul - Sep submissions → Billboard display Oct - Dec

  • Oct - Dec submissions → Billboard display Jan -
