How many modernised Shakespeare’s have you watched that don’t make sense? Silly Billy was born out of a dissatisfaction with modern classical text companies that aren't engaging their audiences.
Silly Billy is in the serious business of silliness, bringing new life to styles of theatre deemed boring and stuffy. Alfie and Jess, founding members, come from opera and classical text backgrounds.
In July 2025, Silly Billy conducted a first-stage R&D of ‘As You Like It’, revitalising the jokes and text by using play, concept and silliness. They found to deliver this, they had to have movement, text, and spectacle in perfect balance. It's important to remember that classical text is a physical pursuit and not just to be studied. Silly Billy makes stuffy, exciting.
