BRIT Awards moves to Manchester for 2026 & 2027

11 June, 2025
Greater Manchester

Since the inaugural BRIT Awards in 1977, the iconic music event has taken place in London every year.

However, Manchester's Co-op Live arena has just signed a deal to host The BRITS ceremonies in both 2026 and 2027.

Manchester's rich musical legacy includes The Smiths, Harry Styles, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, Take That, The 1975, Aitch, Blossoms and Courteeners, giving the city an ironclad claim to stage the awards.

With the next Mercury Prize ceremony taking place in Newcastle this Autumn, the relocation of the BRITs to the north-west bolsters a potential industry trend. Could this be the beginning of the decentralisation of the music industry from England's capital?

Meanwhile, opportunities for musicians in Rochdale borough are abundant. At the upcoming Music Mixer in Middleton, Rochdale Creates is excited to host Pete Marshall. He's going to talk through his journey from rehearsing with his mates in a Rochdale mill to gracing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. This event is a great opportunity to network within the local industry, talk music, make moves and help shape Rochdale's music scene. Grab a free ticket here.
